The Maui Writers Conference is four full days of speakers, workshops, and professional consultations starting on Friday, August 29st through Monday, September 1st. The conference includes:
- Workshops with Authors, Agents, and Editors: Authors for the 2007 Conference included Scott Turow, Jacquelyn Mitchard, Dan Millman, and Karen Joy Fowler.
- Agents Day: Attendees will spend the morning questioning a panel of agents and editors, then spend the afternoon in one-on-one consultations. Agents Day is included in the conference registration fee.
- Prose Writing Competition: This contest is for attendees only and has a $50 entry fee. The first place winner will receive The Rupert Hughes Writing Award, plus a $2,500 cash prize. The second place winner will receive $1,000 and the third place winner will receive $500.
- Professional Consultations: There will be opportunities to sit down one-on-one with publishing professionals. The consultations will be assigned by lottery and will cost $40 for each 10 minute session.
